Fabulous Party Invitations 5 Ideas That Say Fun Fun Fun

Nothing sets the mood for a great party than well thought our creative ways to invite your guests. Sure, you can always go to the store and buy a pad of cutesy invitations that only require you to fill in the blanks, but if you want to get your guests eager to attend from the word go, creativity is the word.

Begin by really thinking about a theme for your party, and when I say theme I also refer to just the feel of your party. For example, your theme might be 'Pirates' so you can easily create a pirate themed invitation, but what if you are just having a party, and there is no theme. Well, even parties without themes need to have a mood.

I'll give you some examples:

Let's say it is your child's birthday and you are just having a plain old regular party, balloons, birthday cake, pass the parcel and so on. Well, even this party has a mood, a mood of happiness, and what says happy better than a brightly coloured balloon! There you go, balloons. Why not write your invitation (on a pre-printed pad even) then roll it up and insert it into a balloon before inflating. Inflate the balloon and tie a brightly colored piece of ribbon around it with the guests name written on an attached tag.

And what about that Pirate Party? A very popular theme for both adults and children alike. For something simple the parchment scroll works fabulously. You can grab a regular piece of A4 paper, rub it down with a wet teabag and let it dry, it will develop a lovely aged appearance. Then write your invitations using a fountain pen and make sure you speak pirate speak me hearty, we want authenticity here, arr! Of course, you could take it even further by popping the scroll in an old glass bottle with a cork in the top, how authentic is that!

So you're having a dinner party for a few of your grown up friends, do you have a specific menu planned? I love theme dinner parties that follow a particular cultural style, such as an Indian Night, Chinese Night and so on. Once again, design your invitations in keeping with your menu. For a Chinese menu stick or write your invitation on a paper fan which is extremely cheap and available at most Chinese supermarkets. Or create a scroll with a chop stick attached at each end. Roll them up towards each other and tie with a ribbon.

And now for the Fairy Party, which has to be one of the most popular parties for girls all around the world. I think the nicest fairy party invitations I have ever created would have to be the ones I wrote with a fountain pen on large autumn leaves. They were gorgeous, and my daughter took great delight in handing them to her friends rolled up and tied with bits of straw. It is important to choose the right leaf when doing this of course, not to dry or else it will fall apart, but not too green either as it will be difficult to write on. When all else fails, simply find a nice leaf image to print with the computer, that is gorgeous too.

Summer is coming in my part of the world, so soon it will be time to start planning those beach parties, pool parties and watermelon busts we all enjoy so much. The perfect invitation, a pair of flip flops! Just write the invitation in plain black marker pen, easy and fun.

With a little imagination, your parties will always be a success, and nothing screams "great party" like fun and creative invitations. Just let your imagination run wild and have fun before the party has even started. And if you need ideas, just visit me at www.thepartymums.com I love to share.
