Whether you have quilt tops that require finishing in simple, inexpensive fashion, or you have created a traditional heirloom requiring a masterful finish, I believe I have the expertise to answer your call.

I will be happy to advise you about any aspect relating to the quilting process including selecting and preparing backings, choice of battings, type and colour of thread and I do bindings too!"

Machine Quilting

Two types of machine quilting:

Edge to Edge Quilting (also known as pantograph or all-over quilting)

A single continuous line of quilting worked from one side edge of a quilt to the opposite side edge with repeating rows all over the quilt. This method of quilting is quick and usually the most inexpensive option.

E2E need not be an imposing way to quilt a quilt. In fact, with the right choice of design and thread colour, the effect can be very pleasing even on the most traditional quilt. The added bonus of choosing this form of quilting is that it is faster and more economical than custom quilting.

Custom Quilting

The application of a machine quilting plan which complements, enhances or supplements the quilt design giving thought to the quilt’s theme, style and the piecing or appliqué techniques used.

Custom quilting can take many forms including:

  • Uncomplicated Quilting when a minimal amount of no-fuss quilting is required to achieve a straightforward and simple finish to a quilt, only a few machine quilting techniques need to be applied.
  • Freehand or Free-form Custom Quilting is the machine quilting equivalent of doodling on paper.
  • Creative Quilting involves the quilter using their individual imagination and creativity to add artistic value to a quilt.
  • Formal Quilting is more complex and elaborate involving a high volume of machine quilting to produce a more formal and textured result.
  • Heirloom Quilting is an advanced level of quilting and most appropriate when the piecing design is traditional and there are large areas of plain fabric.
