Thimble Fingers was created by Julie Macdonald in 2000, at a time when she was living in Singapore and the opportunity arose for her to pass on her embroidery skills by teaching embroidery in Asia. In 2001 she returned to Australia and hasn’t looked back since.
Thimble Fingers is a home based mail order business, operating out of a small home studio in Julie’s garden at Meadow Springs, Mandurah in Western Australia.
At Thimble Fingers you can attend classes to learn the techniques of stump work, surface embroidery and more, and also purchase embroidery supplies. However, as it is a home based business, we would appreciate if you could contact us for an appointment prior to visiting the premises, as it is not operated as a shop open to the public, nor is it run on regular hours.
Julie has taught hundreds of ladies from Singapore, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia how to create her designs. She has also taught at Gentle Threads and Kindred Spirits in Australia, as well as at her Thimble Fingers studio in Mandurah.

Services Offered:Classes Private classes or small group classes can be organised upon request in Julie's studio in Manurah and at Needle Ny-dle Noo.
Beginners Stumpwork Blue Viola: This design takes 2 x 3 hour classes to complete, with homework in between.
Intermediate Stumpwork Blackberries & Dragonfly: This design takes 2 x 3 hour classes to complete, with homework in between.
Advanced Stumpwork Young Badger: This design takes 3 x 3 hour classes to complete, with homework in between.
Our products include:
Haberdashery We stock quality beechwood hoops, stumpwork wires, needles, scissors, rotary cutters and more. Our beechwood hoops are made of strong, and smooth wood with a superior tightening mechanism that won’t bend out of shape.
Our beads are packaged in 200, 350 and 500 bead packs and are ideal for those small embroidery or textile projects. Brands Supported/Supplied

Fabrics At present we carry a small supply of fabrics, but we will be increasing our stock as demand dictates. Currently we have Belfast linens, Trigger cloth, Osnaburg, Quilters muslin and more.
