Fusing & Slumping
Make a Glass Platter with Dagmar Ackerman 27th November.
Course runs for 1 full Saturday 10 am to 4pm. Spend a day with us at Leichhardt and leave with the skills you need to fuse and slump glass. Choose the glass you want from our extensive range and go for it. And you will take away a fused glass plate of your own design. The cost is $240 and includes tuition by a respected glass artist, glass, tools, kiln firings, and everything you need to create your own fused and slumped glass platter.This class fills quickly so enroll now.
GLASS SANDCASTING
With Jon Firth over 2 Saturdays 6th & 13th November
Sand cast glass is an ancient technique that anyone with the use of a controlled kiln can accomplish. This technique is used today by many glass artists to produce unique, one off moulds for casting glass; sculptures, paper-weights and other decorative items.
In this workshop students will explore the technique of Sand Cast Glass in a kiln environment. This technique allows practitioner to make solid glass objects either free form or from a pattern, without the need for a furnace. The workshop will run from 10am to 4pm both days and costs $460.
Jon Firth is the owner of Unicorn Glass Studio and a very experienced and highly regarded glass artist. Jon’s work has been given to world leaders and dignitaries as gifts by the Northern Territory Government. He has been commissioned by both Federal and NT Governments to produce corporate awards.
Jon’s work can be seen in galleries all over Australia.

Do you have a window or door that needs some TLC? Maybe more than one. Would you like to make a lampshade, or make a decorative mirror? You can learn the skills you need to make it yourself. Students are free to do their own design or use our library for inspiration. Let us teach you what you need to know about the design and making of leadlight windows and panels. The course covers glass cutting and soldering. This is a “hands on” class, so you will learn by doing. Our tutor is a highly regarded professional who has been designing and making leadlights and lamps for many years.
Copper Foiling as above This medium is ideally suited to making lamps, suncatchers, and similar projects. As with other classes feel free to bring your own ideas or you can use our library. Our studio is specifically designed for teaching, with 3 large light-tables, glass grinders, drawing materials, soldering irons, design books, etc. If you have glassworking tools bring them along, alternatively you can buy all materials at our studio.
