Leigh Camilleri: Drawing the Space

 

Drawing is an indispensable stimulus for seeing and therefore art making. Build your knowledge and experience of drawing by developing your observational skills and your self-expression. Through enquiry and exploration we will deepen your awareness of the space you are working with. We will experiment with a variety of different mediums, including charcoal, ink, pastel and acrylic. Learn to develop and explore the structure of drawing. Using both observational and conceptual drawing will challenge participants to evolve their work through scale of drawings and mediums used. Leigh teaches by demonstration and encourages participant discussion throughout the workshop. Each day will involve discussions about their drawing as a part of the process. Leigh is in high demand as a tutor, exhibits widely and has studied with Assoc. Professor Chris Orchard at the Adelaide Central School of Art.

A unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the skills of traditional painting methods, this is a series of workshops for the serious figurative artist The course is built around a series of exercises and studies and is being held over 4 connecting workshops through out the year. This will be a demanding and rewarding skills oriented course tailored for experienced students, designed to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills. Keith has over 30 years experience as a professional practicing artist in the style of the Old masters, and presently teaches drawing and painting the figure/portraiture at the prestigious Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. Tim Miller: Contemporary Landscapes – Oils & Pastels

 

This workshop will emphasize form, light and colour, with the city skyline and parks close by the venue as the subject with three days of drawing and painting the landscape. Tim says “As a painter I am interested in form, colour, edges, perceptions, intuition and how these can be used to re-create the sensation and soul of seeing”. For over 30 years Tim has been a professional practicing award winning artist. Tim holds workshops in his studio and is a guest lecturer at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, and his works are sought after internationally and nationally. He is also a master colourist and uses the pastel to explore colours full potential and its juxtaposition to each other allowing the results to inform paintings. Pastels are a good way of doing plein-air sketches to take back to your studio to develop into major paintings. Suit all levels.
