Class and Workshop Schedule

All classes and workshops are held at Cake Tinz n' Thingz. Weekly classes run for a 7 week term and cost $110. All workshops cost $55 unless otherwise stated. Please note that some equipment will be required for each class and/or workshop at additional cost. This equipment is necessary to complete the course/workshop and put your efforts into practice at home. Classes and workshops fill up fast - book early to avoid disappointment.

 

Weekly Classes

New Beginners

Dream Whip Workshop

 

An introduction to cake decorating for the real beginner using Dream Whip, the revolutionary buttercream substitute. Learn how to prepare your cakes and pipe a professional looking cake. Add a special touch to your family cakes and save money by creating your own.

Cupcake Workshop

 

A follow on from the Dream Whip workshop. Create cup cake designs that are easy, fun and look fantastic using Dream Whip and fondant.

Figure Moulding from Fondant Workshop

 

Simple and effective hand moulding of a variety of animals, teddies, fairies, butterflies and lots more.

Father’s Day Chocolate Workshop

 

Make an impressive chocolate cake with that professional touch. Includes chocolate ganache, chocolate wraps, shards, homemade chocolates and fillings.

Wilton Course

 

Note: This is a three week course covering Wilton Module 1. Students must attend for all three weeks.

 

Shirley and Maryann are the only accredited teachers in Western Australia able to deliver this certified Wilton course. Cost is $100 for all three sessions. Learn the American way of cake decorating using buttercream, including piped flowers, figures and a lot more. A kit must be purchased for this course at a cost of approximately $75 (plus cost of tuition).

Putting Messages on Cakes with Gail Dorter (Workshop)

 

Note: Some royal icing experience necessary.

 

A more advanced piping course that involves piping messages, drop flowers, basket weave and pressure piping (teddies, chickens, roses, rabbits and lots more).

Create your own Wedding Cake Workshop

 

A demonstration and workshop to help you create a wedding cake. Preparing your cake, covering, decorating and learning finer tips to create a 2 tier cake.

Stencilling Workshop with Barbara Mitchell

 

A hands-on workshop learning how to use stencils on icing to create fabulous effects.

School Holiday Children’s Workshops

 

Note: Cost for each children’s workshop is $40 per child. It is a requirement that all children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult (no charge for the adult as they will not participate).

 

Children’s Workshop #1: Cupcakes - Join the cupcake craze and have fun creating bold, exciting and dazzling cupcakes. Enjoying it with the kids makes it even more special! Some equipment will be required.

Children’s Workshop #2: Decorating Novelty Biscuits - Decorated novelty biscuits make a wonderful gift for all occasions. Try your hand at it with your child for a personalised treat. Some equipment will be required.

Children’s Workshop #3: Fairy Princess Cake - Made using the dolly varden tin - either hire the tin and make your own cake or we will provide one for $16 each. Icings are included in workshop fee; however some equipment will be necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Children’s Workshop #4: Pirate Ship Cake - Either make your own cake or we will provide one for $16 each. Icings are included in workshop fee; however some equipment will be necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Children’s Workshop #5: Fun with Chocolate - Teaching children the simple pleasure of working with chocolate. Some equipment will be required.

Introduction to Unbreakable Gel and use of Sugarcraft Gun

 

Note: Demonstration only. Cost $35 per person.

 

Learn about this amazing product and its application in the art of cake decorating. Piping lace, filigree, embroidery, writing, moulding, draping, flowers and leaves all made with this remarkable product. Demonstration will also include use of the Sugarcraft Gun with icing.

Dimensional Sugar Art workshop using Patchwork Cutters

 

A form of paper tole with icing. Create interesting effects using Patchwork cutters. Simple to elaborate effects can be achieved using the single cutter.

Open Roses Workshop with Gail Dorter
