Here's an overview of our most popular products!!!

DELICA BEADS

Delica Beads are size 11 and also known as Japanese cylinder beads.

They are renowned for their excellent quality, exceptionally large hole and uniformity in size and shape. Delica colours are legendary. Since they were introduced by Maria George in 1996 thousands of beaders have come to appreciate their many wonderful qualities. When woven together Delicas create a perfectly flat, clean, crisp finish to any project.

DBR= Delica Beads Round (smooth finish)
DBC= Delica Beads Cut (faceted to give a sparkly finish)

The beads are all made of glass. The prices vary according to finish and colour. To get some colours, gold, silver and other rare earth metals are used to coat the glass surface.

MG BEADS

MG beads are a size 11 seed bead made by Miyuki. They are a beautiful seed bead, regular in size and with a good sized hole suitable for both embroidery and for bead weaving. We carry 170 colours which includes a frosted, regular and antique range. Under the banner of MG beads, we also have our Ceylon range which are the size 15's and the Jug Beads which are a size 6. These are more commonly used in stumpwork embroidery.

SEED BEADS

Seed beads are a donut shape, made of glass, with a hole directly through the centre suitable for stringing, jewellery making, embroidery, bead knitting and craft projects. The beads are sized by number - the larger the number the smaller the bead. The most popular sizes are size 8 (approx 3mm) and 11 (approx 1.7mm). Our smallest is a size 15.

BUGLE BEADS

Bugle beads are long, narrow, cylindrical beads of glass that are used in craft, jewellery, fringes and embroidery. The most popular size is a size 3 (approx 7 mm long).

CUT BEADS

Glass faceted beads, ranging from 4mm to 12mm size. Also known as Czech fire polished beads. Wide range of colours and finishes including AB (Aurora Borealis) and Apollo.

AB = produces a rainbow of refracted light
Apollo half metallic coating matching the colour of the bead.

NYMO THREAD

Nymo Thread is a mutlifilament Nylon thread. It comes in various sizes, with the most common and most readily available being size D. This equates roughly to a Fine bead thread. It comes in a variety of colours, has a silky finish, and is very strong. It should be impossible to break with your hands. It comes on a bobbin of approximately 60 yards, and should be stretched as it’s taken off the bobbin to straighten out the thread (this avoids tangling when beading).

It is fantastic for beadweaving, and can pass through a Delica bead 5 times without trouble. It is also excellent for sewing beads and sequins onto fabric eg wedding dresses etc.

FAUX PEARLS

Either glass or plastic and have a smooth pearl-like appearance. Sizes range from 1.5 mm to 22 mm and also a variety of shapes (eg. Flowers, hearts, drops, oval etc).

They are available in a large range of colours, from soft pastels to deep vibrants. The better quality ones can be dyed with regular fabric dye. They can be dipped for soft colours or even boiled/microwaved for richer colours (follow instructions as per clothing).

CUBES or SQUARE

Are available in both 3mm and 4mm sizes in a large range of colours with a large circular hole and they work equally well for beadweaving and jewellery designs.

TRIANGLES

As the name suggests, these beads are a definite triangle shape. They give an interesting texture to strung jewellery or fringing, and also weave together beautifully. Due to the triangular shape, when woven together you can effectively get 2 colourways in the one piece.

DROPS & PEAR SHAPES

Drops are characterised by a top-drilled hole, while pear-shape have a hole right down the middle. Both shapes are available in a variety of sizes and finishes such as crystal, glass, pearl, plastic, wooden and so on.

PTA STONES

These are plastic or acrylic stones, which can be either sewn or glued. Various sizes, shapes and colours available (stars, drops, squares etc.) Very hardy and will give as shine of colour rather than a sparkle. Great for sewing onto kids clothes.

SEQUINS

An incredible variety of shapes, sizes and colours. From 3mm to 25 mm. They can be used from simple craft projects right through to haute couture adding a sparkle to every occasion!!! Relatively inexpensive compared to crystals and can give a similar effect from a distance. Sewn on with a seed bead on the top, or can be glued. Beautiful Christmas decorations can be made using sequins, beads and pins on a styrene ball.

CRYSTALS

Very popular choice for wedding and eveningwear. They are also combined with other beads in jewellery making projects. Can be as small as 3mm beads and as large as chandelier crystals. There is a wide range of cuts and sizes. Swarovski are the most popular but also the most expensive, an excellent alternative are the Czech crystals. Wide range of colours including AB (Aurora Borealis) that produces a rainbow of refracted light.

DIAMONTEES

Faceted glass or crystal that mimics a diamond.

Rosemontees: The stone is set in a claw, and has a cross-shaped channel at the back for sewing through.
Diamontee trim: The diamontees are set next to each other either in metal claws or plastic to make a trim. Often used as straps or trims for debutante and formal dresses.

Iron on/hotfix: The diamantes have glue already on the back. Heat is applied to release the glue and attach the diamante to the fabric.

Glue on: Diamantes with a flat back that are glued to fabric. Use clear drying glue suitable for the purpose.

Sew on: the diamante has a hole in the centre like a sequin, and is sewn on, with a small seed bead on top.
