Glass Slumping for Beginners

Includes: All materials, use of tools, class notes, tuition, lunch.

 

A one-day workshop to introduce you to the basics.

 

• Safety in the glass studio
• Tool & equipment familiarisation
• Cutting 6mm glass
• Making your own mould
• Two different decoration techniques
• Kiln setups
• Firing schedules.

 

The result:

 

• A set of 4 glass coasters with texture/pattern.
• Small platter with raised pattern.

 

It's a 'hands-on' day punctuated with instruction, demonstrations
& lots of question time. Class notes supplied.

Glass Mosaics for Beginners

Cost: $180

Max class size: 7

Includes: Materials, use of tools, class notes, tuition, lunch.
 

A one-day workshop to introduce you to the basics.

 

• Safety in the glass studio
• Tool & equipment familiarisation
• Cutting & shaping 3mm glass
• Planning a design. Colour & grout selection
• Bases & glues
• Grouting and cleaning
• Sealing & finishing

 

The result:

 

• Indoor trivet approx 15cm square (various shapes)
• Piece is completed in the day

 

It's a 'hands-on' day punctuated with instruction, demonstrations & lots of question time. Class notes supplied.

Advanced Slumping

Cost: $180 plus materials

Max class size: 7

Includes: use of tools, one firing, class notes, tuition, lunch.

 

• A one-day workshop working with art/studio glass
• Compatibility of coloured glasses
• Fusing techniques
• Dichroic Glass
• Practice /refresh cutting techniques
• The role of Multiple firings
• Preparation of ceramic moulds
• Firing guides

 

The Result:

 

• Design & prepare individual piece for fusing.
• Possible projects: Dish, Fused Panel, Glass Pendants

 

Each student will be allocated approx 30cm sq of kiln space.
