Classic Candlewick Quilt

Have you ever dreamed of making your own Candlewicked quilt? I sure have and now that I have designed my own, I would love to have the opportunity to share it with you!

 

You will be able to choose from traditional cream or use the lovely colours available in Candlewicking Thread. My quilt has been worked using Cascade Candlewicking Thread which is no longer available. I now have alternative threads as listed below on the Products page. All 12 blocks are 16 inches square in size, the design area covering approximately 13 inches of the 16 inches of the block size. The finished size of the quilt is 203cms (80 inches) x 251cms (99 inches) which includes 3 inch sashing between the blocks and a 10" candlewicked border. A medallion centre is an option to make the quilt into a king size. The medallion can also be used on its own to make a cot quilt.

 

In each monthly posting you receive a neatly presented pattern pack containing a full size pattern, instructions and photograph. Cost for the monthly postings is $10.00 per month. They can be purchased for 1 payment of $120 for the full year or 3 equal payments of $40 i.e. a $40 payment when you enrol and then a further payment of $40 before Month 5 posting and a final payment of $40 before Month 9 posting.

 

All the products needed to work your candlewick quilt can be supplied. I recommend purchasing all the fabric needed for the quilt top before you begin to avoid possible dye-lot problems. It is surprising how the dye-lots vary from roll to roll. You will need 6.5mtrs of 140cm wide Seeded Homespun for the queen size quilt top including the binding. 7 mtrs 140cm wide is recommended for a King size.

 

A block will be posted to you every 4 weeks, which means you will receive them all in about 11 months. I begin only 4 posting groups per year. Applications received before or after these starting dates are either back dated or forward dated.

Colours

There are two colour alternatives.

• Option 1 - Finca Perle 8 thread. This thread gives a lovely sheen to your stitchery. I estimate you will need approximately 12 x 10gram balls. (good colour selection – request colour chart)
• Option 2 is to use PC Candlewicking Cotton. You will need 6 x 25gram balls. Available in: Cream, White, Green, Blue, Mauve, Peach and Maize

Classic Medallion

The Classic Medallion is quite versatile and suggested uses are:

1. Include in the centre of the Classic Candlewick Quilt to make a King size
2. Use it on its own as a Cot Quilt
3. Use it on its own as a Wall Hanging
4. Use it as an accessory to the main quilt draped over a chair.

 

Pattern Pack includes: Full size (AO) pattern sheet and instructions.

Kit Pack includes: Pattern, Seeded Homespun fabric, threads, needles.

Design Size: 35” square + lace

Lace is an optional extra for $4.00 per mtr (5.5 mtrs required)

 

Classic Borders Pattern Pack

$20.00 per pattern pack.

 

The borders are a beautiful complement to the quilt.

Border patters have been drawn for both the short and long sides of the quilt.

They reflect the designing of the Classic Medallion Pattern.
