Create your own beautiful Mosaic Jewellery with jewellery blanks.
Create your own unique mosaic jewellery using our new jewellery blanks. Mosaic jewellery is easy to make and fun, so why not give it a go and create a piece for you or someone else.
Step 1:
Make a template of the area to be mosaiced by tracing the shape onto a piece of paper. You will need to be exact in your measurements as a millimetre too large and you design won't fit into the blank.
Step 2:
Collect your materials. The choice of materials is only limited by your imagination but can include: millefiori, cabochons, glass cubes, tiny tiles, glass beads, mirror, stained glass, glass tiles and ceramic fragments. Visit our website to see out extensive range of small materials.
For this project I have used dark red micro glass cubes, opaque orange glass cubes, 1 x 1cm orange venetian tile and a few pieces of red and black millefiori.
Step 3:
Plan your design. Play around with the layout, spacing and colour of your materials on the template until you happy with the design. You may need to cut some pieces to fit the design which can be done with wheeled nippers.
If you're in need of inspiration to get you started have a look at www.flickr.com under the mosaic jewellery group.
Step 4:
Glue your pieces, for this particular bracelet I have used Weldbond adhesive. I applied the adhesive as needed using a small paint brush. Tweezers come in handy for placing the pieces into position.
Once finished allow the glue to dry and clean up any excess adhesive using a small tool (toothpick, pin etc).
While I haven't done so in this particular piece you can also use grout in your design.
Your mosaic piece is now ready to wear.
