Sorby W445 - $210.00

This simple to use jig is used in conjunction with bench grinders to create or replicate fingernail grinds on turning gouges. It has the capacity to profile a 1/4” spindle gouge through to 3/4” bowl gouge.
It is supplied factory set to replicate the 60 degree profile on Robert Sorby gouges, but can be adjusted to suit individual grinding requirements and replicate them time and time again.
This jig saves time and ultimately money by executing the grind perfectly each time.
Tip: Initially use a 60-grit (new pink) aluminium oxide wheel for profiling the fingernail grind. To prevent unnecessary heat build up in the tool. Then to keep it in tip top condition using 80 grit (new pink) aluminium oxide wheel to keep it sharp.
NB: Use This Jig for fingernail grinds for Bowl Gouges.

GRI 10 - $49.00

This simple to use grinding jig will suit most bench grinders. It will help you to create or reproduce the tool angle. From Skews, scrapers, gouges parting tools as well as other tools that require a touch up on the grinder. But can be adjusted to suit any individual grinding requirements and reproduce them time and time again. This jig saves time and ultimately money by giving you the perfect grind each time.

Hermes Cloth Back Sandpaper - $5 per metre or $200 per 50m roll
Hermes J-Flex is a superior, flexible, cloth backed abrasive. Cloth back ensures even heat distribution this is the preferred abrasive used by wood turners & woodworkers due to its flexibility and long wearing properties. The soft cloth backing lets you fold the sheet to any shape without losing the abrasive on the fold.

Available from 80 grit through to 600 grit in metre lengths or longer.
It is 100mm wide and can be cut or torn to any size.

Grinding Wheels
Pink Aluminium Oxide Grinding Wheels Keep Their Shape & Grind Cooler These wheels will give excellent results in sharpening HSS or Carbon Steel Tools, and this in turn give you more enjoyment in woodturning. They have all the benefits of a white Aluminium oxide grinding wheel. With the advantage of being more resistant to grooving and keeps its shape better when doing heavy grinding. EG. Reshaping a bowl gouge's etc.

The Pink Aluminium Oxide Grinding Wheel has a stronger bond but still allows the grain to wear away, this eliminates the grinding wheel from becoming glazed as easy, and will grind cooler, there by reducing over heated tools when grinding (bushes to suit most grinders supplied with grinding wheel).

Velcro Rotary Hand Sanding System
The 75mm diameter Velcro pad is more suitable for your larger projects. The power sanding of bowls and platters is now the accepted method for finishing your bowl or platter, having the advantages of reducing sanding marks, heat build-up and time spent sanding by hand.

This model will allow you to fit a 50mm dia Velcro pad also to this hand piece. These are available at extra cost. The best part of this method is the time saving for sanding, while producing an exceptionally fine finish - especially for bowls and platters.
Velcro sand paper is available in pre cut discs in packs of 10 or in sheet form.
