Preparation Tips

By: Furball Farm Quilting

  • Pieced quilt tops should be flat, square and parallel. We try our best, but sometimes the fullness and puckering may not always be able to be quilted out.
  • When attaching borders, take time to measure width and length through the centre of the quilt top and ease the seams if necessary to ensure straight borders and parallel sides.
  • Seams should be pressed to lay flat with selvedges removed before joining.
  • Do not baste or pin your quilt together.
  • Indicate top edge of quilt.
  • Backing fabric must be square and parallel and 4 inches larger that your quilt top on each of the four edges.
  • If supplying your own wadding it should also be at least 4 inches larger than your quilt top overall.
  • Please note that the same colour cotton will be used on the front and back of the quilt.

Proper preparation will ensure a better result to the quilt, and saves on extra charges.
