Sew Stitchable: January/February 2009 Newsletter
"The Stitcher"
This is our first newsletter for 2009 and amazingly, it is on time!
At the end of 2007, Margaret had a dose of flu and this seemed to keep popping up for most of 2008 until eventually someone told her about Olive Leaf Extract. This seemed to do the trick and she is going into 2009 with renewed enthusiasm. We have many wonderful things planned for the beginning of 2009 including “Mystery Mornings” and a more interesting than usual class programme. In this newsletter, we are also beginning to release the patterns for a new Candlewick Block of the Month quilt – “Vases of Flowers”. A candlewick bag pattern is also being released “My Best Bag”. All of these things take time and energy to prepare and set in place. Margaret loves doing the designing and the embroidery, but writing the notes she always finds a chore.
Plans for the Mystery Mornings are going very well. Friday and Saturday mornings are completely booked out, so we have made Saturday afternoon available, trusting the weather will not be too warm! There are still some spaces on Thursday morning. We are pleased that some groups have made bookings. We will do our best to accommodate all who wish to come, and we will open up more demonstration times if necessary. Booking is essential and numbers are strictly limited to 20 per session.
On the home front, things have been rather hectic. We spent a considerable amount of time in mid December helping Damien and Victoria move into their new home. Even though they had so recently moved, we celebrated family Christmas in their home. The boys are doing well. At almost 18 months, Grant is almost walking, rides his little bike very well and is starting to talk! Jacob is quite a chatter box. When helping me in the kitchen recently he said “Come on Nanna, lets get this job done.” It would be good if he adopts this attitude in life! Julian didn’t make it home for Christmas as he had to work either side of Christmas, however, he plans to visit early in 2009.
Bruce has been keeping us well supplied with fruit and vegetables from his garden again this year, although we have had a bit of a battle with birds and earwigs! The December rains have been wonderful and have certainly helped keep the garden alive.
